Most people talk about generational wealth but don't actually know that generational wealth starts with generational dreams. If your dream is to drive a Range Rover, sleep in one bed of a very big house, and pay for drinks when you go out with your crew, it will not matter how much money you make. If you're incapable of a generational dream, you're incapable of building generational wealth.

I see people who score big and plant maize, buy a truck, buy land to resell, or jump on any other trending business of the time. I know guys who inherit their father's land, sell it to buy a motorbike, come to Kampala, and sleep outside in the wind. And it is true that idle land isn't liquid enough to meet actual daily challenges. What most people forget is that the economic system in Africa that we inherited from the colonialists is intentionally set up to extract. I know this sounds like a giant conspiracy theory, but if you analyze the trend of wealth transfer within Africa since 1960, you will clearly see that it only moves in one direction. Wealth in terms of long-term assets like land, and intelligent minds and enlightened sages, migrate away from the indigenous African and, in one way or another, find themselves in the hands of the colonialist.

Even when you're able to make more money, mysteriously everything becomes more expensive so that the extra effort or luck is canceled out by the mysteriously rising standard of living. The state of healthcare and infrastructure is mysteriously kept below par, even when run by people you know to be competent. You are helpless in terms of being able to protect your wealth because law enforcement is corrupt and your lubale has been branded evil. If it seems like the world is intentionally designed to keep you helpless so that you can beg for a favor and get indebted to someone, you're not losing your mind. It is not that the country is too complex to manage right. It is not that your gods are weak or that they've abandoned you. You're right to feel how you feel. Someone out there is pulling the right levers to keep you in a perpetual state of insecurity and helplessness so that you can look to them for salvation.

You see, before the Catholics plagiarized the Jesus story, that story wasn't about a Judean messiah whose role was to come and save the helpless. Christhood was a human achievement. It was something anyone attempted to achieve. The Catholic story of a teacher who sometimes made miracles is a whitewashed version of a story of a teacher who taught others how to perform miracles. Jesus was not supposed to be an idea to submit to; it was supposed to be an idea to empower you. The Jesus described in the four gospels is closer to the original story of the Gnostics. The Jesus and God talked about by Paul in all his letters that make up the majority of the New Testament is much closer to Western propaganda than it is to the word of God. These stories, and those of the Old Testament, are stories of a cunning conqueror. The kind that conquers you by domesticating you. First, the conqueror does you a favor by feeding you for free until you've forgotten that you were capable of feeding yourself before you crossed paths with this conqueror. And at the point where you're incapable of feeding yourself, it demands its favor tenfold. In fact, the price demanded is so big that you submit your entire life into servitude to pay it back.

But one can only feed a hungry man. So, what the conqueror has to do is to make you hungry. Being skilled with mass violence, having a low moral barrier, and having significant experience in tricking the human mind, this conqueror will choose the most incompetent and greedy among your kind and ally with them to rule over you. He knows their incompetence and their greed, so he can easily control them. He will make them fat and wealthy. In return, he will make you envy and hate them. Like Mobutu. Like Mugabe. And he will use this bond of hate to get them to work openly against you. Anytime Mobutu attempts to do something that is actually good for the people he rules, the conqueror will remind him of how much those people hate him. And he will use this fear to weaponize the leader against his people. He will also make sure that all his actions are done in the dark, so when the people cry out for help, it is still him available to help. This is where he wants you. He wants you to allow yourself to be fed by him. That structure is actually formalized in the banking system. The majority of the money in the world is made from thin air when you get a loan from the bank. But money is a big conversation on its own, it is worth its own article. Just buy Bitcoin osilike.

The conqueror will give you a billion shillings for your land today. The land that is big enough to feed you and your family for 10 generations. And using economic trickery, after 10 years, your billion shillings will not be able to buy salt, and your land will cost 100x the price you sold it for. If you think this is a joke, Zimbabwe has a billion-dollar note in their currency since Mugabe attempted to give land back to the indigenous people. Gaddafi forgot that his wealth was rented from the conqueror and attempted to use it to build a society free from the conqueror's extraction. Look at how the hate of a leader was weaponized to destroy Libya.

Your culture will be strongly penetrated by stories that convince you that you are inferior to them. Your movies will portray your people in themes like gender-based violence, disease, and hunger. They will reinforce these stories in school. Your boys will have access to free pornography overly represented by women who look like the conqueror, so that they grow up with the illusion that the women of their kind are sexually inferior. They will vilify your spiritual leaders and abolish your gods. If all that fails, they will get violent. They will stage wars in your neighborhood like they do in Congo. Or they will trick you into their tribal wars like they did to Japan. They will make you ashamed of not being them until you look up to them to show you how to be them.

This is what colonization is. It is simply an extension of slavery. While once violence and the Bible were enough for a black man to subjugate himself and be owned by a white man, today, the conqueror is no longer interested in owning individuals; he is out to own entire societies.

The "conqueror" is ultimately an ancient system of control. While the architects of this system are mostly white, it is vital to differentiate them from everyday Europeans. They did this to the Europeans first, and the Europeans slept through the whole process, so much so that they think it is they who are the colonizers. White supremacy was simply a psychological tool—a superiority complex fed to them to keep them tamed and complicit in the machine. It convinced them that they were better people than the rest of us. They did this to the Japanese and most of Asia. China seems to have woken out of the trance, and India is still putting up a fight, but things don't look good.

And therefore, Africa is the last frontier. The Africans are naturally rich. The universe conspired to bless them with plenty. The weather is good. The lands are fertile. So how do you domesticate rich people? the conqueror asks himself. First, you have to make them poor. And insecurity is the ox that plows the field of poverty.

But a man who is insecure cannot dream because he has to stay awake to stay alive. The Baganda have always known that a man who cannot dream cannot communicate with his gods. A man who cannot dream cannot see far. A man who cannot dream cannot have a generational desire. He is too worried about today's milk; he is willing to steal and bankrupt the hospital that could have treated his grandchild and saved his family from going bankrupt. But he has heard about these philanthropists, so maybe they will help with the healthcare. And that is how the corrupt politician, who steals money that could have built a hospital in order for her to drive a Rolls Royce, ends up domesticating her own grandchild to the conqueror.

A generation is built by a strong family. A strong family is a family capable of growing together. If employment is killing the balance in your family; if rumors of witchcraft are making you hate and fear your siblings; if simple insecurity is forcing you to break up your forefather's land because you cannot tolerate your relatives, how will you live with strangers? This is all part of the big conquest plan. A society without strong families is a weak society. There is a conspiracy, in fact, that the only rich people in the world are members of ancient European families.

The first way out is to remember to dream. To dream big enough for the generations that come after you too. If you have a generational dream, you won't sell your ancestral land for a motorbike, and you won't trade your grandchildren's future for a Range Rover today. If you have a dream for your family, you will not easily be swayed by the cheap tricks the conqueror plays to keep you insecure. And if you follow your dream, generational wealth is inevitable.
