Code is not a product.
I am tired of people giving vibe coding a bad name. If you want to build a calculator or a videogame or something that simply needs to be coded to life, then chances are high that you won't find a lot of satisfaction in vibe coding. It will take seconds to create and it will most likely not behave or look like you want it to look.
Alternatively, the rest of us are builders. We want to get people to play more every day, we want filmmakers to make money off their movies, and we want to solve poverty. Building apps, data pipelines, dashboards, etc., is a very small part of what we want to achieve, and if we can come up with something that works just well enough so we can focus the rest of our energy on actually building the world we want to live in, then yes, vibe coding is heaven-sent.
Vibe coding is not coding, so stop comparing the two as if they are the same thing. A shopkeeper who wants a convenient way to use their phone to track inventory can vibe code something simple; it doesn't make them a software developer. He is not out to get your bread. Unless, of course, you've made a business ripping off shopkeepers with Excel sheets with better UIs. Upton Sinclair said, "It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends upon his not understanding it." It seems he wasn't only talking about corrupt Ugandan civil servants but also these tech thought leaders.
If your purpose in life is to build someone else's dream, shut up and get back to work. Let the vibe coders manifest.
