There are two highly respected rappers that just refuse to click for me, and I want to watch a reaction or analysis that will change my mind about them.
The first one is Nas, and the other is Tupac.
I understand that Pac died young, so I get that his music was acceptable for his age, but I don't get the whole fuss around him. He kind of gives Mowzey Radio and Paul Kafeero vibesâwhere the legend and raw emotion around his tragic death carry the musicâexcept Radio's and Kafeero's actual music is levels ahead of Pac's. Some of Pac's interviews are really dope, so maybe that's the energy people feel in his music, which makes perfect sense.
Nas, on the other hand, I don't get at all. I like "Ether"âmostly because it reminds me of the kind of insults we traded in secondary schoolâbut the rest of his catalog is too shallow or too technical for me. It doesn't have that spiritual depth I look for in music. It feels derivativeâlike if you smoked weed and read Nietzsche or one of those European dudes. I don't know if I am missing some significant context that would make me appreciate his music more.
Recommend some music analysis videos for me, please.
